Winter activities

Downhill skiing
The nearest slopes are in the scenic Klövsjö/Storhogna area, just 25 km away, offering 19 km of ski runs for all levels.

Cross-country skiing
The trails start right at our doorstep! Enjoy skiing through the beautiful Jämtland nature, with options for 1 km or 3 km loops.

Guided snowmobile tour
Feel the thrill of guided snowmobile tours in Vemdalen, offered by us and in collaboration with nearby activity providers. Explore forests, marshes, and mountains on tours ranging from 2 hours to 3 days!

Dog sledding

Mountain Hiking
Just 2 km from the nearest mountain, Klövsjöfjället, you’ll find endless hiking possibilities. The Berg municipality is full of mountains offering trails for all levels, from gentle walks to more challenging climbs.

Cycling
Bring your bike this summer and explore charming dirt roads, taking in the traditional atmosphere of rustic cabins and the stunning surrounding landscape.

Fishing
With 130 lakes and rivers covering 85,000 hectares, Berg is one of Sweden’s largest cross-border fishing areas. Enjoy everything from serene forest fishing to scenic mountain fishing, offering something for every angler.

Take the opportunity to take part in the world’s largest treasure hunt among high mountains and deep valleys.

Cultural sites
Berg is full of legends, including tales of two giants—one in Rätan and one at Hoverberg. According to local lore, when Jämtland was to become Christian, the giants grew angry: the Hoverberg giant took shelter in Hoverberg Cave, while the Galberg giant threw stones at the church being built in Rätan. Today, a large wooden statue of Galbergsgubben stands at the new viewpoint overlooking Böle—perfect for enjoying the view and soaking up a bit of local folklore!

Golfing
Just 18 kilometers away lies Klövsjö-Vemdalen Golf Club, a scenic course set in the heart of the mountains — the perfect blend of sport and stunning nature.

Waterfalls
Within 25 kilometers of the Wilderness Center, you’ll discover Fettjeåfallet, Sångbäcksfallet, Fallmoran, and Linafallet. Each waterfall is tucked along charming forest paths, perfect for a scenic walk and a peaceful escape into nature.

Nearby cave
Explore historic paths and visit Baltzar Cave, a rock formation where local people took refuge during Baltzar Bäck’s raids in the early 17th century. This site is the only preserved memorial of the Baltzar feud in Jämtland. Start your adventure from the Wilderness Center and follow the scenic forest trails to reach it.

Climbing park & zipline
This adventure park features five courses of varying difficulty, with obstacles suspended between wooden posts, ropes, and bridges, reaching up to 8 meters above the ground. The courses range from easy (orange) to intermediate (green) and more challenging (blue). For extra fun, the park also offers two zipline loops—one green and one blue—perfect for soaring through the treetops.

Wild safari
Sonfjället National Park and the surrounding forests are among the most important bear habitats in Scandinavia. Join us on a guided trip into the national park, where you’ll experience breathtaking nature and hike through the bear’s own territory.

Moose Garden Orrviken
High above the great lake Storsjön, you’ll have the chance to meet the “King of the Forest” up close in his natural surroundings. With the guidance of our expert guides, you can spend unforgettable moments with these majestic animals and learn more about their lives in the wild.
