Since 2022, we’ve poured our hearts into shaping the Wilderness Center into what it is today: a place where you can enjoy comfort, adventure, and the peaceful silence of untouched nature. And we’re just getting started — with many ideas and plans to create even more opportunities for unforgettable experiences in the years to come.

The history of the old school
Nederhögen Wilderness Center is more than just a place to stay, it’s a cozy campsite, hotel, group accommodation, and conference venue, all set on the border between Härjedalen and Jämtland, right at the gateway to the wilderness.
Our campsite offers 30 spacious pitches (8 x 15 m), each equipped with a 16-amp electrical outlet. Wi-Fi is available throughout the site. The service building includes showers and toilets, and there’s also a separate entrance to the old schoolhouse with additional toilets and laundry facilities.
Here, you’ll experience true tranquility in a secluded setting, yet still be within easy reach of the lively ski resorts around Vemdalsfjällen. The Wilderness Center is centrally located despite its peaceful surroundings — with our own lighted cross country ski tracks (1 km and 3 km), direct access to snowmobile trails, and loops for dog sledding (16 km and 30 km, available by arrangement).
For cozy evenings, gather around our outdoor barbecue after a day of snowmobiling, hiking, or exploring. The surrounding area also offers excellent fishing waters, such as Sörtjärn, Vitvattnet, Horten, and Klövsjön — just to name a few.
